Here are the first 3 largest midship frames, set up on the stem. I had
a vertical stiffener on center line on each on, and at least one horizontal,
about at the midpoint. The frames are 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" x 1/4"
angle, and the floors are all 1/4" cor-10 plate. Note the transit
to Charles' right, used for leveling and squaring each frame. This was
before the days of lasers, which would make this process easier. But it
wasn't too bad done the old fashioned way... we could get at least one
frame up and trued per day. You can just see the gantry I welded up on
the right side of the picture, it was 16' high, straddled the boat, rolled
the length of the shop, and had a 1 ton electric hoist on a trolley. Indispensible.
